I have noticed that people often leave their real question until the end of a consultation. We will spend twenty minutes talking about work, or family, or a house move, and then, almost as an afterthought, they will say: and what about my relationship?
I understand the hesitation. These are tender subjects, and nobody wants to hear something frightening about the person they love, or about the possibility of never finding someone. So I want to say clearly how I approach them.
In Vedic Astrology, partnership is read mainly through the seventh house, the planet that rules it, and the condition of Shukra. For a fuller picture we also look at the Navamsha, a divisional chart that has traditionally been consulted for marriage. Jupiter matters too, especially in a woman's chart in the classical tradition, and the Moon tells us a great deal about emotional needs.
What all of this describes is not a fate but a pattern. What do you tend to look for in a partner? What do you bring to a relationship, and where do you find it hard? Do you need a lot of independence, or a lot of closeness? Are there habits that keep repeating, perhaps from relationship to relationship?
When people see those patterns laid out, it is often a relief. Something that felt like personal failure starts to look more like a tendency they can work with.
Timing is the other big part. Certain dashas and transits bring relationships into focus. Sometimes that means meeting someone. Sometimes it means a commitment, or a difficult conversation, or a period of distance that eventually leads somewhere better. Knowing that a season like this is underway can help a person be more patient with it.
When two people want to understand each other better, comparing their charts can be helpful. I am careful here. Compatibility scores and point systems have their place, but I have seen couples with poor scores build wonderful marriages, and couples with perfect ones fall apart. What matters more is understanding where you naturally support each other and where you will need to make a real effort.
Whatever comes up, I try to be honest and kind in equal measure. A relationship reading should leave you clearer, not more anxious.
